City of Chandler 01 July 2009 STREET_CENTERLINE vector digital data withheld STREET_CENTERLINE GIS feature that is part of the foundation data in the Land Information System (LIS) for City of Chandler mission critical and strategic uses of GIS. Street Centerline segments - broken at each intersection change. Within the City of Chandlers Enterprise GIS, line data that represents areas that have been recorded and dedicated as public right-of-way or private road access. The street centerline route is modeled with a line. Don't be mislead by its name, it is not always in the center of the street. The centerline is actually the survey or monument line of the street with the right of way lines being offset from it. The street Centerline layer serves two primary purposes within the Land Information System (LIS). Representation of legally recorded streets with their official street names. Street Address Ranges for Public Safety dispatching purposes. PUBLIC SAFETY IMPACT Public Safety relies on accurate street address ranges assigned to the Street Centerlines when responding to an emergency. The Mobile Computer Terminal (MCT) screens placed in Public Safety vehicles direct emergency response personnel to the location of the emergency. A prompt response to the emergency depends on the accuracy of the street address ranges that are used to place the visual positional indicator on the MCT screens. Street Centerlines are broken from intersection to intersection, or at a directional change for address range assignment to ensure that individual situs addresses are accurately represented on MCT screens.
